Need a family-friendly summer activity that doesn’t involve the TV? Follow this handy DIY guide from The Pretty Life Girls to add a splash of color to your home!

Materials:

  • Embroidery hoops in varying sizes
  • Clear contact paper
  • Colorful cellophane sheets
  • Scissors

Note to parents: This isn’t made with real glass, so you don’t have to worry about kids getting cut, though please be safe with the scissors.

Directions:

  1. Cut your cellophane sheets into triangles (or any shape you desire). Set aside.
  2. Remove the inner hoop of your embroidery hoop. Roll out a sheet of contact paper that is as wide as the hoop, plus about an inch. Remove the backing from the contact paper and place the sticky side up on a flat surface.
  3. Place the inner hoop of your embroidery hoop on top of the contact paper. Place the cellophane triangles on the contact paper inside the embroidery hoop (they should stick well to the contact paper).
  4. Lift the hoop and the contact paper and carefully place inside the outer hoop of the embroidery hoop and tighten at the top to secure. Cut any excess contact paper along the edge of the embroidery hoop, using scissors.
  5. Hang and enjoy!
