At PSO, we see ourselves as more than just a utility company. We view our community as more than just our customers. That’s why we’re always seeking out ways to make a difference in our neighbors’ lives.

Did you know that more than 40% of Oklahomans who rely on food pantries for basic groceries report they have to choose between paying their bills and feeding their families? As active members of our community, PSO wants to make a difference. That’s why we created the Shine a Light Project – to provide Oklahoma families in need with a ray of hope.

The Shine A Light Project Partners with The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma

Since 2014, the Shine a Light Project has partnered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma to help families in need lighten their financial load. Here’s how it works: each year PSO donates energy-efficient LED light bulbs to our food bank partners to help families save money on their utility bills – money they could use to help feed their families.

A food bank representative explains, “Food insecurity isn’t something that happens to a family in isolation, it’s often part of a larger constellation  of issues impacting poverty and health.” The partnership between the food banks and PSO takes those issues into consideration and helps reduce costs for the families both companies serve.

PSO has donated over 550,000 energy-efficient bulbs  since 2014. The amount of energy saved from this program has reached approximately 16 million kWh annually – the equivalent to the total energy use of over 1,200 homes.

In addition, PSO customers receive instant savings when they purchase qualifying ENERGY STAR certified LEDs at one of our participating retailers. Just look for the “Instant Savings” sticker on the lighting aisle to save on your next lighting purchase.
